Junior Golf Development Program
VISION AND MISSION
The Bulgarian Golf Association is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the growth and development of golf in Bulgaria with specific regard to:
- the development and growth of junior golf
- promoting the amateur game of golf by the organisation of national tournaments annually
- promoting interest in the game of golf locally and regionally
- regulating and monitoring the handicap system to ensure accuracy and fairness
- the development and selection of a national squad to represent the country at the highest level
- develop and maintain close relationships with other golf associations and bodies internationally
IN-SCHOOL COACHING - “PLAY GOLF”.
Each group of children at participating schools gets an introduction to golf for one hour per week over a three week period.
The programme is called “play golf”. Once the children have completed the three weeks of coaching they receive a “play golf” certificate.
The “play golf” logo embodies the spirit of the game as it should appeal to children – fun, exciting, challenging!
On weekends all the children who have had the introduction to golf are offered the opportunity to come to the golf course by bus for further coaching.
Each group spends two and a half hours with a coaching team.
Summer school holidays
During the summer holidays the weekend programme is extended into a weekday programme.
Children will be transported to the golf course by bus.
JUNIOR HANDICAP CONCEPT
The Junior Handicap is introduced. This handicap is unofficial and monitored by the Bulgarian Golf Association and will start at 60. This will give the child a measureable level and allow his or her progress to be monitored.
Once the child has achieved sufficient skill he or she will be handicapped properly on the St.Sofia handicap system.
